Partnership to Accelerate Smart Mobility Innovation Across Ohio’s Beta District

Marysville, OH – June 1, 2025 — The Marysville-Union County Port Authority (MUCPA) and Lextant, a nationally recognized leader in human-centered research and innovation, are proud to announce a strategic partnership to operate and promote the Automotive & Mobility Innovation Center (AMIC) located in Marysville’s Innovation Park.

This collaboration brings together AMIC’s mission to foster next-generation mobility innovation with Lextant’s deep expertise in automotive experience design and community mobility ecosystems. Under this agreement, Lextant will manage AMIC’s day-to-day operations, attract and support smart mobility innovators, and elevate the center’s regional and national presence.

“AMIC was created to catalyze investment, development, and talent around the future of mobility in the Columbus Region and the Beta District,” said Eric Phillips, Economic Development Director for Union County–Marysville. “Lextant’s unique capabilities and industry relationships make them the ideal partner to steward the next phase of AMIC’s growth.”

As part of the agreement, Lextant will oversee tenant services, maintain facilities, coordinate testing activities, and execute a marketing strategy to position AMIC and The Beta District as a premier innovation hub. The partnership also includes programming to connect startups, educators, public agencies, and global mobility leaders, leveraging regional assets such as the Smart Mobility Corridor, TRC, and The Ohio State University’s Center for Automotive Research.

“Lextant’s ability to turn unmet user needs into smarter mobility solutions makes them an ideal partner for the AMIC and The Beta District.” says Doug McCollough, Executive Director, The Beta District.

“Its about creating an engine for innovation.” said Chris Rockwell, Founder and CEO of Lextant. “The AMIC and Lextant share a common vision of The Beta District as a global destination for mobility solutions. The future is being developed here in Central, Ohio.”

The AMIC serves as a flexible platform for public-private innovation, connecting companies with a rich ecosystem of partners, testbeds, and workforce pipelines. With Lextant’s support, AMIC will play a central role in accelerating commercialization, strengthening regional competitiveness, and ensuring Ohio leads the next mobility revolution.
