Cenovus Energy, a Canadian energy leader, has planted its flag in Dublin, hailing the city as its U.S. headquarters. The result? New jobs and commitments to the Emerald City.

The office will be located at the northwest corner of Dale Drive and Bridge Park Avenue at 4455 Bridge Park Avenue and occupy more than 50,000 square feet of Class A office space within the 100,000-square-foot mixed-use building.

Through this expansion, Cenovus Energy plans to bring an additional 120 job opportunities to downtown Dublin. Construction is expected to be completed by the fall of 2027.

The company operates refineries in Lima and Toledo, Ohio, as well as Superior, Wisconsin, with two additional joint venture refineries alongside Phillips 66. For those curious about the name, Cenovus means “new century”.

Dublin came out on top over competing locations in Illinois and Texas. Residents can find the regional headquarters located at 5550 Blazer Parkway, on the city’s southwest side.

“Ohio is the heart of our operations in the U.S.,” Juli LeClair, Manager of U.S. Regional Communications for Cenovus, said. “Dublin is such a fantastic community to be a part of. There are so many great amenities. It was attractive from an employee standpoint.”

The new office in Bridge Park is designed to fuel Cenovus’s growth while creating an environment where employees can find fulfillment. The area’s restaurants, office spaces, ample parking, and scenic walking paths make it a magnet for talent, aligning with the company’s goal to establish a professional and technical services hub to oversee its U.S. commercial and manufacturing activities.

“Bridge Park is a fantastic place,” LeClair said. “It allows us to attract and retain great talent.”

How much talent?

By December 31, 2031, Cenovus plans to retain 105 existing jobs and create 120 new positions in Dublin, totaling 225 employees. These roles will span engineering, human resources, health and safety, marketing, logistics, finance, and communications, supporting the company’s refining operations.

The company’s expansion is bolstered by a strategic partnership with Dublin City Council and JobsOhio. On May 6, 2024, the City Council approved a five-year economic development agreement with Husky Marketing and Supply Company (HMSC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cenovus Energy Inc.

The agreement provides a payroll withholding incentive of up to $442,000, which was contingent on Cenovus securing a seven-year lease in Bridge Park by December 31, 2024. The City expects to collect approximately $4,060,000 in net withholdings over the term of the agreement.

“It’s very attractive for us,” LeClair said of the economic development agreement with the city. “It’s about attracting people to the area and making sure we have great people here.”

JobsOhio’s incentives further supported Cenovus’s workforce expansion, reinforcing Dublin’s appeal.

“JobsOhio is fantastic to work with,” LeClair added. “We only saw it as a huge opportunity for us and the community.”

Cenovus leaders want to deepen the company’s U.S. presence over the next five to 10 years, focusing on safe and reliable operations while pursuing growth opportunities.

Cenovus is also committed to being a good neighbor in Dublin, partnering with the Columbus Crew and joining events like the Dublin Irish Festival.

“We’re an employer that really cares about where we operate, and we want to continue to invest in that,” LeClair said.

For Dublin residents curious about their new corporate neighbor, LeClair makes one thing clear:

“We want to be viewed as an employer of choice,” she said. “If you’re considering a career with Cenovus, you should check out our career section of our website.”
